    {"id":91840,"date":"2023-07-24T09:13:37","date_gmt":"2023-07-24T07:13:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/investmentbell.com\/?p=91840"},"modified":"2023-07-24T09:13:41","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T07:13:41","slug":"asia-shares-brace-for-rate-meeting-trifecta-china-steps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/investmentbell.com\/fa\/news\/indices-news\/asia-shares-brace-for-rate-meeting-trifecta-china-steps\/","title":{"rendered":"\u0622\u0633\u06cc\u0627 \u0628\u0631\u0627\u06cc \u062f\u06cc\u062f\u0627\u0631 \u0628\u0627 \u0646\u0631\u062e \u0633\u0647 \u06af\u0627\u0646\u0647 \u0622\u0645\u0627\u062f\u0647 \u0645\u06cc \u0634\u0648\u062f\u060c \u0686\u06cc\u0646 \u06af\u0627\u0645 \u0628\u0631\u062f\u0627\u0634\u062a"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Wayne Cole<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SYDNEY (Reuters) &#8211; Asian shares on Monday braced for an action-packed week of earnings and central bank meetings that will likely see higher interest rates in Europe and the United States, and just possibly the end of the monetary tightening cycle in both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Markets are fully priced for quarter-point hikes from the U.S. Federal Reserve and European Central Bank, so the focus will be on what Fed Chair Jerome Powell and ECB President Christine Lagarde say about the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;For both, we expect this to mark the last hike in the cycle, though neither Lagarde or Powell is likely to signal that the peak is in, instead retaining hawkish tones and remaining data-dependent,&#8221; said analyst John Briggs at NatWest Markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;But activity and inflation data in both regions have softened enough, and are likely to soften further, to justify an end of the tightening cycle.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The odd man out will be the Bank of Japan which meets on Friday and is thought likely to keep its super-loose policy intact, but some Western banks are speculating on a tweak to its yield curve control stance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reuters reported last week that BOJ policymakers prefer to scrutinise more data to ensure wages and the inflation rate keep rising before changing policy, though the decision could still be a close call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report slugged the\u00a0yen\u00a0and gave\u00a0Japan&#8217;s Nikkei\u00a0an early 1.2% gain, while MSCI&#8217;s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan eased 0.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>China&#8217;s Politburo meeting this week could see more stimulus announced, though investors have so far been underwhelmed by Beijing&#8217;s actions to shore up a sputtering post-pandemic recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chinese blue chips dipped 0.3%, while property developer\u00a0Country Garden\u00a0(HK:2007) slid on debt concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HOST OF EARNINGS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EUROSTOXX 50 futures\u00a0eased 0.2%, while\u00a0FTSE\u00a0futures fell 0.1%.\u00a0S&amp;P 500 futures\u00a0and\u00a0Nasdaq futures\u00a0were little changed ahead of a wave of earnings this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A who&#8217;s who of major companies are reporting including Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Meta (NASDAQ:META), Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), GE\u00a0(NYSE:GE), AT&amp;T (NYSE:T), Boeing (NYSE:BA), ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM), McDonald&#8217;s (NYSE:MCD), Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO), Ford (NYSE:F), and GM (NYSE:GM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We believe the cloud behemoths Microsoft, Google, and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) will all deliver cloud upside over the next few weeks with an AI dominated focus that is markedly positively changing the direction of IT spending\/projects in this environment,&#8221; said analysts at Wedbush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results will have to be good to justify the\u00a0S&amp;P 500&#8217;s earnings multiple of 20 and its gains of 19% year-to-date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We believe recent valuation expansion despite higher rates is reasonable considering the longer-term relationship between rates and equities, the improvement in expected growth, and the high market concentration in stocks benefiting from AI optimism,&#8221; wrote analysts at Goldman Sachs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;While our baseline forecast assumes a slight contraction in the S&amp;P 500 P\/E multiple to 19x by year-end, we believe risks to valuations are tilted to the upside if the multiples of laggards &#8216;catch up&#8217; or yields fall.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yields on\u00a010-year Treasuries\u00a0were steady at 3.85%, still below the recent spike high of 4.094%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. dollar eased a touch to 141.41 yen, having jumped 1.3% on Friday following the report on the BOJ. The gains lifted the\u00a0dollar\u00a0across the board and left the\u00a0euro\u00a0at $1.1123 and off its recent top of $1.1276.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was no obvious reaction to news Spain was heading for a hung parliament, though its debt might come under pressure when local markets open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rise in the dollar pulled\u00a0gold\u00a0back to $1,961 an ounce and away from last week&#8217;s peak of $1,987. [GOL\/]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oil prices ran into profit-taking early on Monday having climbed for four straight weeks amid tightening supplies.
